Additional Helpful Information
VA law allows Voluntary Registered Providers to care for 4 children. This law changed in 2016. Licensed providers can watch up to 12 children with childcare assistants. Unlicensed providers can watch a maximum of 3 children. Both Voluntary registered and licensed providers should file taxes on your childcare payments and you should receive a tax statement to use as a deduction on your taxes. I provide clients with their tax statements every January. These laws are in place to protect your children. Please make sure that your provider is following the VA childcare laws. Both Voluntary Registered Providers and Licensed Providers are eligible to participate in the USDA food program. This is a Voluntary Program through Child Nutrition. The USDA also conducts home inspections to ensure properly portioned, healthy meals. Both Voluntary Registered Providers and Licensed providers are subject to unannounced home inspections. Both types also have to complete both FBI fingerprinting and Social Service background checks as well as TB tests. |
